Undertaking the Minimum Australian Context Gap Course with Electrical Trades College
1. I am interested. How do I check if I am eligible to do the course?
To enrol into the Minimum Australian Context Gap Course with Electrical Trades College, you must:
- hold an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR) for a UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or successor)
- hold a provisional/restricted licence issued by the regulatory authority responsible for regulating electrical work and licensing of workers in the jurisdiction where the training will take place
- be engaged (employed) as an electrical worker or have access to a workplace environment that replicates workplace conditions
- hold a certificate of currency for resuscitation (CPR) within the last twelve months and can provide a certificate of currency
2. Can I still enrol with Electrical Trades College into the Minimum Australian Context Gap Course WITHOUT a provisional/restricted license?
No. You must have been issued with a provisional/restricted license from the regulatory authority responsible for regulating electrical work and licensing of workers in the jurisdiction where the training will take place BEFORE enrolling with us.
3. What is the course fee involved with theMinimum Australian Context Gap Course?
$8800 which includes a $1500 enrolment fee. The rest can be paid off in weekly instalments.
4. What is the duration of the Minimum Australian Context Gap Course?
The Minimum Australian Context Gap Course runs between 6 – 9 months
5. Does Electrical Trades College have proper certified authority to offer the Minimum Australian Context Gap Course?
Electrical Trades College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45347). Electrical Trades College is also a current approved RTO to deliver this course.
6. Does Electrical Trades College have any branches outside Sydney?
No. We currently have 1 campus located in Sydney, Revesby. We can do block training then you can return to your place of employment in a regional NSW location. IF that works for you.

8. What are the operating hours for Electrical Trades College?
Electrical Trades College is open from 9:30AM – 9PM Monday – Friday. We currently conduct training & assessment from 4pm – 9pm.
9. Does Electrical Trades College issue Electrical Licenses?
No. This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (“ERAC”) requirements for an ‘Electrician’s license’ as regulated by NSW Fair Trading.
10. What do I need in order to get my electrical license?
You will need a qualification at first. This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (“ERAC”) requirements for an ‘Electrician’s license’ as regulated by NSW Fair Trading.
11. What do I need to bring with me to class?
You will need:
- A laptop which is WIFI enabled in order to access online content provided by Electrical Trades College.
- Note Pad
- Pens/Pencils
- Scientific Calculator
- Australian Standards
12. Do I need to be wearing PPE when attending class?
You DO NOT need to be wearing PPE when attending class
13. What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?
Electrical Trades College enforces a strict policy regarding WHS. You will need to be:
– Wearing your safety boots
– Bring your hand tools (Note: Your tools will be inspected by Electrical Trades College for safety purposes prior to use)
Note: Electrical Trades College will provide PPE when applicable.
