1. How do I enrol in the UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Blended Recognition Model programme?

To enrol, you need to:

    • Have had a minimum of 48 months of on-the-job experience in the electrotechnology industry supervised by a licensed electrician.
    • Be Bonafide employed and supervised by a licensed electrician.
2. Do I need to be employed to start this Blended Recognition Model course?
Yes, employment as an electrical apprentice plus supervision by a licensed electrician is mandatory to enrol in this course.
3. What is the difference between the apprenticeship and the Blended Recognition Model course?
The apprenticeship pathway is a subsidised pathway through the NSW Government which requires a formal Apprenticeship Training Contract, while the Blended Recognition Model does not require a formal Apprenticeship Training Contract and the course is fee-for-service.
4. What is the duration of the course, and how is it delivered?
The course duration is up to 12 months. It is delivered through a blended model, including online learning, classroom sessions, practical training in a simulated worksite, and supervised workplace-based training. Timeframe for students is generally based on any prior completed formal training on the condition that you can provide your Academic Transcripts, whereby these must be verified.
5. What units are included in the qualification?
The course consists of 27 core units and 4 elective units, covering areas such as workplace safety, electrical installations, troubleshooting, and renewable energy. Specific units include “Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation” and “Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel.”
6. How many hours per week do I need to commit to the course?
This course is student self-paced; it is recommended that a commitment of 7 hours per week on average is achieved. This will include a combination of classroom face-to-face and or online self-study. 
7. What technology or equipment do I need to participate in the course?
You will need a computer with internet access to use the online Learning Management System and the ability to work with modern software and tools.

11. Do I need to wear PPE when attending class?

You MUST always wear your Safety Boots when attending Electrical Trades Colleges’ Training Facility. Other than safety boots, ETC will provide any necessary PPE required to be used in the workshop/s.m Mon – Fri

12. What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?

Electrical Trades College enforces a strict policy regarding WHS. You will need to be:

  • Wearing your safety boots
  • Bring your hand tools (Note: Your tools will be inspected by Electrical Trades College for safety purposes before use)
    Note: Electrical Trades College will provide PPE when applicable.
13. Does Electrical Trades College Issue Electrical Licenses?
NO. We deliver training and assessment for UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, a Nationally Recognised Qualification, which is needed before applying for an unrestricted electrical license.
14. What is the UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician qualification?
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to select, install, set up, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises.
