1. I am interested. How do I check if I am eligible to do the course?

2. I do not have any experience, but I am interested to study. Is that possible?

Electrical Trades College offers the ‘New Entrant’ course. Whilst partaking our course you will be required to be in current employment. You MUST have access to a workplace and source a qualified licensed electrician as supervisor to be able to complete the on-the-job experience. 

3. What is the cost of the New Entrant Course?

The cost for the New Entrant Course is $13 400.

4. What is the duration of the New Entrant Course?

The New Entrant course runs across 48 months.

5. What is the cost of the Recognition Blended Model Course?
Electrical Trades College carefully examines a candidates’ evidence of previous knowledge, skills and on-the-job experience before determining a price for the Recognition Blended Model Course. Our Recognition Blended Model Course Fees for different circumstances of the students are all stipulated in our Recognition Blended Course Guide in which can be emailed to you upon request.
6. What is the duration of the Recognition Blended Model Course?

The Recognition Blended Model Course can never be pre determined until Assessors closely examine the students’ Portfolio of Evidence. Electrical Trades College would like to give recognition to one’s on-the-job experience where it is due before determining the duration.

As a guide, students who are strong in their skills and knowledge and have the time to study online, can undertake the Recognition Blended Model Course within 6 months. Or even less if very experienced. But others, do take longer if their life is busy and pushed for free time to study. We can work around this with your individual training plan.

7. Does Electrical Trades College have proper certified authority to offer courses?

Electrical Trades College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45347). It currently delivers:

8. Does Electrical Trades College have any branches outside Sydney?
No. We currently have 1 campus located in Sydney, Revesby. We can cater block training whereby you can return to your place of employment in a regional NSW location. IF that works for you.

10. Can I enrol for the Recognition Blended Model course if I am still an apprentice?

Unfortunately, you will not be eligible for the Recognition Blended Model Course. You will need to meet the entry and selection criteria for this course found at: https://electricalcollege.edu.au/entry-and-selection-criteria/

11. I have plenty of experience in electrical work in Australia and overseas. What do I need to do to gain a qualification?

You will need to speak to one of our Assessors to determine whether you are eligible to sit any of our current courses.

12. I have plenty of experience in electrical work overseas only. What do I need to do to gain a qualification?

You will need to speak to one of our Assessors to determine whether you are eligible to sit any of our current courses. If you are not eligible, we will guide you to the right direction in seeking recognition.

13. I have done the OTSR in the past and I’m now thinking about doing the minimum Australian context gap training course so I can get my license, is this course something you offer and if so could you provide me the details?

14. I am overseas qualified electrician with 12 years experience. Do I need to get my trade recognized before going for the test? Do I need to attend a school or would it be a straight swap?

You will need to speak to one of our Assessors to determine whether you are eligible to sit any of our current courses. If you are not eligible, we will guide you to the right direction in seeking recognition.

15. I have been working in electrical in Australia for a number of years now with good experience. However, my English is very weak. Am I able to do the course? If not, what do I need to do?

You will need to speak to one of our Assessors to determine whether you are eligible to sit any of our current courses. Electrical Trades College strives to assist students in any support they require to successfully gain a qualification.

16. What are the operating hours of Electrical Trades College?

Electrical Trades College is open from 9:30AM – 9PM Monday – Friday. We currently conduct training & assessment during the following times:

  • New Entrant Course times 9:30AM – 6PM
  • Recognition Blended Model Course times 4PM – 9PM
17. I am interested but can only do after hour classes. Does Electrical Trades College offer after hour classes?

Electrical Trades College caters for all student needs. By doing so, we are able to implement an Individual Training Plan for any candidate.

18. Does Electrical Trades Collee offer apprenticeships?

The model is similar to an apprenticeship but the worker is not signed up through their employer on an apprenticeship contract.

It is designed for new entrants wanting to get qualified and become a tradesperson. The person is expected and required to be working in electrical trades workplace and it is expected that the person will be working under the supervision of a qualified electrician. 

19. Does Electrical Trades College Issue Electrical Licenses?

No. This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (“ERAC”) requirements for an ‘Electrician’s license’ as regulated by NSW Fair Trading.

20. What do I need in order to get my electrical license?

You will need a qualification at first. This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (“ERAC”) requirements for an ‘Electrician’s license’ as regulated by NSW Fair Trading.

21. ‘UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician’ What will this qualification entitle me to do?

22. What do I need to bring with me to class?

You will need:

  • A laptop which is WIFI enabled in order to access online content provided by Electrical Trades College.

23. Do I need to wearing PPE when attending class?

You DO NOT need to be wearing PPE when attending class.

24. What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?

Electrical Trades College enforces a strict policy regarding WHS. You will need to be:

– Wearing your safety boots

– Bring your hand tools (Note: Your tools will be inspected by Electrical Trades College for safety purposes prior to use)

Note: Electrical Trades College will provide PPE when applicable.
