Overview
In this course, students will develop the expert skills needed to design and validate electrical equipment and systems. Students will be able to work in areas including electrical design, project management, industrial control systems, motor drive and electric energy supply systems.
ABOUT THIS COURSE
This qualification covers competencies to design and validate/evaluate electrical equipment and systems, manage risk, estimate and manage projects and provide technical advice/sales.
It develops competencies in the ethical and responsible application of mathematics, science, engineering techniques, standards and codes of practice, engineering design practices, supervision and management of physical, human and financial resources in engineering.
Entry & Selection Criteria
The entry requirement for this qualification is:
- UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
or
a current ‘Unrestricted Electricians Licence’ or its equivalent issued in an Australian state or territory.
Course Outcomes & Pathways
This qualification provides participants with advanced technical and theoretical knowledge in electrical engineering and supports career progression into paraprofessional and engineering associate roles within the electrotechnology and engineering sectors.
The core competencies of this qualification may support eligibility for Engineering Associate membership with Engineers Australia. Applicants seeking membership should confirm that the training provider and program meet the specific accreditation requirements of Engineers Australia at the time of application.
Graduates of this course may have pathway opportunities into higher education, including electrical engineering degree programs. Entry into university courses is subject to the admission requirements of the relevant institution.
For electricians, this qualification may contribute toward the educational requirements associated with progressing toward roles such as Level 3 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) in New South Wales. However, completion of this qualification alone does not grant ASP accreditation. Additional requirements, including industry experience, regulatory approvals, and assessment by the relevant state authority, must be met.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
